YOUR GUIDE FOR the “big 4” platforms
The social media landscape is ever-changing. You need a social media expert who can help you navigate through it all so you can reach your intended audience on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok
I’m Tim Godfrey, and I’m the Digital Media Director with Dave Sinclair Buick-GMC.
Since 2020, I’ve helped the dealership raise it’s social media following for its two brands, establish a consistent presence on all four platforms, and generate soft lead funnels for all eight of its social media pages.
And in 2024, both brands — Dave Sinclair Buick-GMC and Dave Sinclair Customs — really hit their stride, especially on YouTube.
The Dave Sinclair Buick-GMC YouTube page alone generated more than 9.6 million impressions in 3 months and more than doubled its subscriber count. Meanwhile, the Dave Sinclair Customs page generated 11.2 million impressions across 12 months and grew its subscriber count by 74%.
How I Succeed with Social Media
Make it Enjoyable
The worst mistake you can make with a business YouTube page is post commercials for your business or the latest incentives. No one comes to YouTube to watch a commercial.
So, how do you show off your business without promoting it?
The answer: Make an entertaining video series. For the Dave Sinclair Customs page, that series was our Customer Reveals series.
To show off the experience of customizing with Dave Sinclair Customs, the dealership’s customization brand, I wanted to capture what a customer felt like in real-time when they saw their custom truck or SUV for the first time in person.
The results?
Over 2 million organic impressions on YouTube and nearly a dozen custom trucks and SUVs sold due to a customer watching one of these videos.
How I Succeed with Social Media
Make it valubale
Car dealerships have had a bad rap for a long time. Social media only amplifies that reputation.
My content strategy was simple — buck the bad reputation by becoming a valuable resource for the customer. Instead of being like every other car dealership, I focused on making simple tutorial content and explainer videos that car shoppers would WANT to watch.
How I Succeed with Social Media
Make it simple
I don’t overthink content. Overthinking leads to inaction which allows doubt to linger and content to suffer.
In a perfect world, I’d have all the time in the world to plan out a great video idea and even more time to get it done. But I don’t have that kind of time.
In some cases, I have no time. So, I have to capture what I can, when I can, with what I have.
And sometimes, those limitations lead to AMAZING results.
